India’s largest Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacture, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Private Limited is likely to introduce first electric car – the Mahindra REVA NXR in 2012. The full-sized four-seated electric car Mahindra REVA NXR will provide a solution to petrol price hikes.

According to the chief of Mahindra Reva project, Mr. R Chandramouli, the company will build 30.000 units of Mahindra REVA NXR by the end of this year and the sale of these cars will be commenced from next year.

The Mahindra REVA NXR electric car will be available with the choices of Lithium battery or Lead acid battery. But here it is noticeable that the car with the Lithium battery will be more costly compared to the Lead acid battery. The car with Lithium battery will offer higher speed of about 104 Kmph and mileage of around 100 km for every charge. On the other hand the car with Lead acid battery can provide a mileage of just 80 km per charge.

The Mahindra REVA NXR car will be bigger and roomier as well as will offer better finish of the interiors. The price of the REVA NXR is expected to be around 3 to 4 lakhs.
