Maruti Suzuki is aggressively working on Maruti Cervo to unveil it in the Indian auto market that will replace Maruti’s iconic and oldest small car, Maruti 800. Maruti Suzuki Cervo is expected to be launched in the country by the first quarter of 2012. The car will be an entry level model and shelved in the price range of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.4 lakh. The five-door hatchback has spacious passenger cabin and can accommodate four adults.
An upcoming hatchback Maruti Cervo from Maruti Suzuki India Limited will be powered by a modest 0.7L, 668cc petrol engine which is able to deliver max power of 54 bhp at 6500 rpm with a top torque of 65 Nm at 3500 rpm. The Cervo will offer mileage of around 21 kmpl on highway and 17 kmpl in city driving conditions.
The Maruti Suzuki Cervo small car is already running successfully in Japan and the company is expected to shed few features in the Indian version of the vehicle. The major competitors of the new model will be Tata Nano, upcoming 800cc car from Hyundai and upcoming ultra low cost (ULC) car from Nissan-Renault-Bajaj joint venture.
