The Audi A5 is a coupe produced by the German auto manufacturer Audi since 2007. Audi A5 is available in three variants in International market – Audi A5 Cabriolet, Audi A5 Coupe and five-door Audi A5 Sportback. The upcoming car is expected to hit the Indian roads by the second quarter of 2012. This will be the full-size coupe which will be a four-seater vehicle and will come with styling and technological features.

The Audi A5 coupe will come equipped with a 3.2L V6 petrol engine with a FSI direct-injection which will be able to churn out a peak power of 265 bhp at 6500 rpm along with a top torque of 330 Nm at 3250 rpm. It is likely to be introduced in two transmission options including a 6 speed manual transmission and a Tiptronic automatic transmission.

The dimensions of upcoming Audi A5 are 4368 x 1872 x 1296 mm. The four doors A5 coupe is designed to give the feel of luxury to the occupant as well as the viewers. The car has a unique Audi parking system, ABS with EBD, 6 airbags along with a rear view camera with rear ultrasonic parking sensors for maximum safety. The upcoming Audi A5 can be purchased with the price tag of Rs 39 lakh.

Volkswagen Up

The German auto giant has decided to unveil its smallest car named Volkswagen Up, part of the Volkswagen Group New Small Family (NSF). Volkswagen Up was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 and will hit Indian shores by early 2012.

Volkswagen Up will compete with the leading competitors such as Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. The company is planning to introduce the new model in three body style – 2-door hatchback, a 4-door hatchback version and a 4-door wagon carrying longer wheelbase.

Volkswagen Up is likely to come in both diesel and petrol versions. A 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol engine will deliver maximum power of 75 bhp and peak torque 183 Nm with a 6-speed manual gearbox whereas the 0.8L, turbocharged diesel engine will pump out a top power of 51 bhp and max torque of `100 Nm with the same 6-speed manual gear box.

New Volkswagen Up will have two monitor screens – 8” monitor shows the speed, fuel level & range, as well as CO2 emissions of vehicle and 7” monitor controls climate radio volume, telephone, music selection, navigation, photos & movies. The car looks very attractive, well curved with its bonnet & boot.

The Volkswagen Up will be the cheapest Volkswagen in India with the starting price of Rs 3.5 lakh.

Tata Motors is all set to release its new full grown SUV – Tata Safari Merlin. The new SUV will be manufactured at company’s facility near Pune. The 2011 Tata Safari Merlin is based on the platform of Tata Aria which itself is based on Tata Safari’s platform. It will be showcased at the Auto Expo in January 2012.

Tata Safari Merlin will maintain most of the features of Tata Safari and Tata Aria but some cosmetic changes will be made to the exterior. At the front, a new headlamps, grille, bumper and bonnet will give the new look. There are some novelties at the rear such as two chrome tipped rear exhausts and a chrome slat running across the tail gate.

Tata Safari Merlin is likely to get a new 2.2L 217cc DICOR engine that currently powers Tata Safari. This engine will provide a maximum power of 140bhp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 320Nm at 1700 rpm. The engine will incorporate a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Tata Safari Merlin is a seven-seater car and fully loaded with features at attractive price. The new SUV is expected to have advanced safety features including ABS, ESP and traction control. The price of Tata Safari Merlin is expected to be in India the Rs 5.30 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs range.
