The GL class series by Mercedes was always admired for its combination of power and luxury. Over the years it has been upgraded. Now Mercedes-Benz has come out with the brand new 2013 GL-class for the Indian market. It was launched on 16 may by tennis star Boris Becker. Only 100 units of the new all terrain luxury power-house will be offered to buyers for now.
The GL class model launched here is the GL 350 CDI Blueefficiency. The SUV has a 2987cc turbo-common rail diesel motor which can belt out 255 bhp of power and 63.2kgm of torque. The gearbox is an automatic 7-speed G-Tronic.
To its great credit Mercedes-Benz has been able to increase the car’s output and torque 22% than the last model. At the same time, the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption is 15% lesser than the previous model. This is true to the car maker’s commitment of making more efficient cats. With its third-generation technology, the BlueEfficiency engine that is packed with the automatic ECO start/stop function will switch off temporarily whenever the car gets stuck in a jam or is standing at the traffic light.
As expected, the GL class is priced at a hefty 77.5 Lakhs.
