The Hyundai i40 is a large family car built by South Korean manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company. World’s fourth largest car manufacturer had unveiled Hyundai i40 concept at the international automotive event, Geneva Motor Show 2011.
The Hyundai i40 is initially designed for the European markets but the car is likely to be launch in India by the end of this year. In India, it will give a tough competition to New Honda Accord, Ford Mondeo, Volkswagen Passat and Toyota Camry. During its development phase, the i40 concept was known by the codename “VF”.
Hyundai i40 is expected to be available in both petrol and diesel variants. Petrol variant will come loaded with an advanced 2.0 L direct-injection, 4-cylinder engine which will capable to deliver max power of 170 hp and 213 Nm of torque while diesel unit will be equipped with 1.7 L turbo diesel engine that generates peak power ranging between 115 hp and 136 hp along with torque of 330 Nm.
The petrol engine of Hyndai i40 will deliver an overall mileage of around 19-21 kmpl whereas diesel version will offer mileage of around 20-22 kmpl.
The expected price of the Hyundai i40 will swing between Rs. 14 lakh and Rs. 16 lakh.
