Premier Limited has made a comeback into the Indian market with the launch of Premier Rio SUV. Premier is one of the India’s oldest automaker, which is known for its Premier Padmini (a low priced SUV with the compact crossover).

Premier Rio is a compact and the cheapest SUV in the country. The vehicle is blessed with several goodies such as air conditioning, alloy wheels, electrically adjustable ORVMs, remote central locking, split fold rear seats and many more. The car can accommodate five adults comfortably.

Premier Rio is not a result of extensive research but a product developed jointly by Premier and Chinese firm Zotye. The car was first showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. It is now available in both diesel as well as petrol variants.

The diesel variant of Premier Rio is equipped with a 1.5L 1489cc, Turbo engine that delivers 65PS of peak power at 4000 rpm  along with 152 Nm of top torque at 2250 rpm whereas petrol unit has a 4 cylinder 1173cc engine able to produce 77 PS of max power.

Premier Rio price ranges between Rs. 4.7 lakh to Rs. 6.44 lakh. It is available in Paradise White, Mystic Black, Cherry Red, Sterling Silver and Topoz Blue colours.

Force One

Force Motors is one of the oldest auto manufacturing companies in India, which is commonly known for the commercial passenger vehicles such as Tempo, Matador and Traveller. The company was founded in 1958 and about two years ago the company ventured to build an SUV, named Force Motors Force One.

Force Motors showcased Force One SUV in the 4×4 variant on January 6, second day of the Auto Expo 2012. The new car is based upon the Chinese version of Ford Explorer known as Guangdong Foday Explorer III. ‘Be the Force’ is the tag line of the new Force One, which indicates the power and performance capabilities of the vehicle.

The Force One is powered by Daimler AG Germany Sourced 2.2L FMTech (Force Motors Technology) 4-cylinder CRDI turbo engine capable to deliver 321 Nm of top torque at 1600-2400 rpm along with 140 bhp of max power at 3800 rpm. The engine is mated with 5 speed manual transmission system.

The Force One SUV has enough power to accelerate to 100 kmph in just 17 seconds easily and can achieve a top speed of 160 kmph. The vehicle is able to deliver mileage of 14 kmpl on city roads and 17 kmpl on highways. The estimated price of Force One is Rs 11.5 lakh.

Nissan Qashqai

Nissan Qashqai 300x224 Nissan Qashqai Nissan Qashqai is a crossover Sports Utility Vehicle, also known as the Nissan Dualis in Australia and Japan. The Qashqai wass been produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan in 2007. The car is currently being manufactured at Dyushu factory in Japan, Huadu plant in China and Sunderland factory in UK. It was first showcased in the Paris Motor Show of 2006.

Nissan Qashqai is now available in diesel and two petrol engine options with all wheel as well as front wheel drive capabilities. The 1.5L dCi, in-line 4 cylinder diesel engine can produce a max power of 106 bhp at 4000 rpm and peak torque of 240 Nm at 2000 rpm while the higher cubic 2.0L 1994cc, in-line 4-cylinder diesel engine churns out peak power of 110 hp at 4000 rpm and top torque of 320 Nm at 2000 rpm. Both engines are mated with six speed manual gearbox.

The 1.6L petrol engine of Nissan Qashqai can produce 115 hp of power at 6000 rpm and 156 nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm whereas the 2.0 litre petrol engine belts out max power of 140 hp at 6000 rpm and a top torque of 196 Nm at 4800 rpm. Both engines come incorporated with five speed manual gearbox and six speed manual CVT transmission respectively.

The expected price of Nissan Qashqai is apprx. 21 lakh.

2012 Fiat Punto showcased at the Frankfurt Motor show 300x191 2012 Fiat Punto showcased at the Frankfurt Motor showFiat has unveiled its 2012 Fiat Punto hatchback at the Frankfurt show. The 2012 Fiat Punto is the new version of Fiat Punto Evo hatchback. The new car has undergone both major and minor surgeries and comes with a new look new 15” alloy wheels. The price of the car will be announced very soon.

The 2012 Fiat Punto hatchback is powered by a 900 cc gasoline engine to generate a max power of 85 hp at 5500 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. The engine has a 6-speed gearbox for a smoother transmission and emits only 98 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The engine is designed by Fiat Powertrain with excellent fuel efficiency and performance.

The new 2012 Fiat Punto car offers two driving modes – normal (with full engine performance) and eco (enables the engine to emit less CO2). It also features new bumpers, restyled wheels and three new body colors – Ruby Red, Graphite Grey and Turquoise. Inside the cabin, it has a redesigned dashboard, new seats and 3 different trim levels (Pop, Easy and Lounge). The new hatchback will be available with the stop/start technology that has a gear shift indicator.

Fiat had released 3 cars in India – Fiat Punto hatchback, Fiat Linea sedan and Fiat 500 premier hatchback.
