The new Skoda Citigo is an entry level hatchback car from Skoda India, which is based on the same platform as used by Volkswagen for its recently unveiled vehicle UP. The Skoda Citigo has recently achieved a five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP that rates the crash worthiness of the car under different situations. It will enter the Indian market by 2012.
The Skoda Citigo is literally a “Simply Clever” car. Proven its name, the small car will be a city car and is likely to be zippy on city roads. Interior of the car will offer a combination of comfort and beauty and include several storage compartments, multimedia systems and cup holders. It will be available in 3-door and 5-door variants. The new small car from Skoda will also come along with a portable navigation system with a 5” touch-screen, Bluetooth phone connectivity and an infotainment system.
Skoda Citigo will come with 1L 3-cylinder 12 valve MPI petrol engine. The engine will have two options – the first will offer a 60 bhp of peak power and second will deliver 75 bhp. Both engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Skoda Citigo will be a cheaper vehicle and can be purchased with the price tag of Rs 5 lakh.
