Japanese automaker Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) has launched its premium vehicle offering for the mid size segment in India, the new Nissan “SUNNY”. The new Nissan SUNNY will hit the Indian market in the next few months to coincide with the festive season. According to the company, they are studying the opportunity to launch a small car in the Indian market.
Nissan Motor India’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, Kiminobu Tokuyama told, “We are launching the new saloon Sunny in October to coincide with the festive season. The petrol and diesel variant of the Nissan Sunny will be manufactured at the Renault Nissan alliance Orgadam facility in Chennai.” The launching ceremony of the new Nissan Sunny was held in Mumbai.
The 10th Generation Nissan Sunny is based on the popular V-(Versatile) platform of the company which has already been used in Nissan Micra. The new car will be available in 1.5 litre Petrol version. This model has been designed at the Nissan Design and Nissan Motor’s Japan based headquarters. The designers of the company have taken inputs from 170 countries.
The price of Nissan “SUNNY” is expected to be Rs 7 to 8 lakhs in India where it will compete with Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Etios and Volkswagen Vento.
