Volkswagen Tiguan is a Compact Crossover Vehicle (CUV) and based on the PQ35 platform of the Volkswagen Golf. Tigaun was first showcased at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show and was introduced as a 2008 model for Europe. The company is planning to launch the car by 2012 in India and to compete with Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V, and most awaited Hyundai Santa Fe.
Volkswagen Tigaun will be loaded with the extremely powerful 2.0 litre, turbo 4-cylinder engine, which delivers 200 bhp of max power and 207 Nm of torque with 6-speed manual or auto transmission gearbox. It features a rearview camera, a fold-flat front passenger seat, a sunroof, and a 30 GB hard disk to improve navigation system.
Volkswagen Tigaun includes safety features such as ABS, anti-skid system, traction control, dual front & front side airbags, rear side airbags, curtain side airbags in rear, and three-point retractable seat belt for all seats. Along with all wheel drive option, it also has front-wheel drive option. The car will provide excellent fuel efficiency and amazing low emission rate.
The price of Volkswagen Tigaun is not disclosed yet by the company, but this is expected that the car will be available at price of Rs 20 lakh.
